Since "Regenerator" in 2022, King Buffalo have toured extensively and built a studio of their own. That's where "Doomsayer" was made, their seventh album, announced for 4 December 2026. The following European tour brings the trio to the Backstage Halle on 15 March 2027. I'll be capturing the Munich show in pictures for Rock'n'Pics and reporting on it afterwards.
King Buffalo hail from Rochester in the US state of New York. Sean Roa handles guitar and vocals, Dan Reynolds plays bass and Scott Donaldson drums. Their heavy psych combines extended instrumental passages with stoner rock, progressive structures and heavy riffs. The songs leave room for repetition and slow build-ups before their full force is unleashed.
The band was particularly productive during the pandemic: "The Burden of Restlessness" and "Acheron" were released in 2021, followed by "Regenerator" in 2022. Together they form what is often called the pandemic trilogy.
For "Doomsayer", the trio first recorded numerous jam sessions in early 2026 without a fixed goal. According to Roa, these grew into some of their most direct and riff-driven songs so far. He also produced and mixed the album himself. In Europe it is released via Stickman Records.
Spirit Mother are announced as support. That makes two bands on stage this Monday, before the night continues with King Buffalo's new material and their existing repertoire.
