Forty years of The Busters - and on 8 January, Munich gets to celebrate too. The band brings its "Fette Fierzich" tour to the Backstage Halle. I'll be there with my camera and I'm looking forward to a night of offbeats, plenty of horn power and movement in front of the stage.
It all started in 1987 in Wiesloch in Baden-Württemberg. Since then, The Busters have become a fixture of the German ska scene. Their sound blends ska with reggae, punk and rock'n'roll. Today's line-up has nine musicians, including a horn section with saxophone, trumpet and trombone. That's a lot of firepower that can be great fun on a club stage.
The band also stands for a clear political stance. "Ska against racism" is their motto. Among other causes, The Busters support "Schule ohne Rassismus" (School without Racism) and the "Bündnis für Demokratie und Toleranz Wiesloch", a local alliance for democracy and tolerance. Their commitment goes well beyond their own concerts.
The anniversary tour already starts at the end of December 2026 and runs until March 2027. Munich is one of the first stops of the birthday year. Four decades of band history offer plenty of material for the setlist. I'm curious which songs The Busters will pull out for it - and how much chance to tap along there'll be between two photos.
Photos and my concert report will follow after the show here on Rock'n'Pics.
